ABS light come on.

ABS light come on.
The ABS light has just started coming on, it will stay on unless I turn the key off and on again. Then is fine.
Any ideas??? HOw do I check the ABS for problems?

On my 87, the light was on, and i did some tests like the motors manual said, it turned out to be an isolator diode assy, and i couldnet find the darned thing, the ford dealer couldent get the part and they had no idea where to look, so, i ended up removing the lightbulb, at the recomendation of a local ford dealer,

on my 87 i went xcrazy for weeks trying to figure out why mine came on...it turned out to be a leaky abs hydrolic control.(the one on the rails)fluid was leaking from the wire conection on the unit itself...it also had a crappy pedal.after the new control was installed and i bled the system all was ok , pedal felt high and hard..and no more light on...i would also recomend that you replace the sensor ontop the pumkin when you service yours

The troubleshooting procedure for RABS (rear anti-lock) and ABS (4 wheel abs) are different. Here is a link to the thread where I fixed my RABS. That thread contains a link to a tutorial at Raybestos, the manufacturer of RABS.
Your brakes have to be in good shape for ABS to work, if you have any other brake problems, fix them first.
