Worked in a diesel shop for years, the best stuff we ever found was from ZEP. Was green with pumice in it. Did a great job and left your hands soft and didn't have that "chemical" smell most hand cleaners have. Original GOJO is good too just remember a little goes a long way (works great as a spot remover for cloths too). Don't like any of the "orange" stuff, it always gave me a headache and seemed to leave a bad taste in my mouth from just the smell.
I get surgical gloves from my medical supplier. My insurance pays for them. I use them for greasy stuff. I wear the regular el cheapo brown cotton gloves when doing non-greasy stuff. About 2.99 for 3 pairs at Lowes. Otherwise I use GoJo handcleaner, with or without pumice. I don't like the "orange" type stuff. I've tried Lava, but found it about useless.
I was bored and curious who else uses "**** gloves" in their garage.
I'm not keen on the feel of latex, not even on my hands. I used to use polyethylene gloves, but they're hopelessly flimsy. So now I use 8 mil Nitrile gloves. I've found the nitrile gloves to hold up pretty well and they keep your hands cleaner than the best cleaner. Failing gloves I use Lava soap.
