In the process of renewing Holley Carburetor, have used the Carburetor dip on occasion, hands are still recovering from the last carburetor renew. Wonder if member's have read, or have an opinion on whether acetone would be suitable alternative to the toxic dip. Acetone appears to me, similar to to the aerosol cans of carb. cleaner?
Although I have used brake cleaner for some specific issues, in general, I would avoid acetone, etc......1) extremely flammable and really has not better cleaning/crud dissolving abilities than carb dip.

Currently soaking a few carb. components in carburetor dip, the basket is full and only hold a few items. I figure it will take 2 or 3 cycles to dipping all of the hardware and components, not to mention whether the dip becomes contaminated after the 2nd or 3rd dip. Thought if acetone was a reasonable and suitable substitute, may be able to save a few $, dip run approx. $27 for 3/4 gal.; whereas, a gal. of acetone cost less than $10?
