psycocrazy, you went from 16 to 21.5 and all you did was add the tornado? The posts state rebuilds and tune ups, was the tornado another addition, or was the mpg checked before and after?

-Anyone getting better mpg's probably needed a really good tune-up as it is. With the spinner inhibiting air flow and sensors working right, that would lean out the mix a bit....helpful if the engine is running rich already.
Lean out the mix eh? I wonder if thats why it helped my truck? Cause my truck seemed kinda sluggish before, like it WAS running rich. I wonder if thats why it made my truck run better......I also wonder why my truck is running rich. No codes, No lights, wonder if it could be the oxy sensors? thing has 115k on it, and i dont think they were ever changed.

This whole statment is contradictory. You are saying that it blocks air flow, but at the same time leans out the mixture. (lean mixture means more air and less fuel)
I dont have one on my truck, but it looks like it does the same thing as one of those "swirling" throttle-body spacers. Anybody have an opinion on those?... well thats a stupid question.
Those that seem to be favoring the Tornado side, I suggest you check out some of the sites given in prior posts for real life road tests performed by those that know what they're doing in world of mechanical testing.
There are some similarities between the Tornado and other bolt on after market equipment. Specifically the TB spacer and air box/filter combos in their mentioning creating a swirling motion to incoming air, these two ALSO do other functions, the Tornado's sole purpose is in creating a swirling turbulance in the air BEFORE it reaches the TB.
The one test not done by any that I've seen so far is of prolonged use of the Tornado. If anyone knows, or has used the Tornado, for 6 or more tank fulls in a row, Many here I'm sure would be interested.
Naturally, any test would have to include diligent, honest, recorded specifics as well as particulars of the driving/weather conditions.
Bottom line is, if the Tornado would do what it claims, I don't think they would be able to keep up with the shipping demands.
It would be good info on long term, but I see no one has used it even on the short term. Guess we'll wait and see. The son's truck was rebuilt at least six months ago and tuned about4 to six months ago. He'll have those 6 or more tanks in at 100 miles a day.
I have one, I put it into my Ranger which at the time only had a K&N replacement filter. I noticed absolutely no MPG gain. I check my mileage every tankful, always making sure to top off the tank, so I know it is filled to the same point each time. I kept it in for a while, made some mods like a cone filter intake and exhaust, and noticed no gains in economy with them either. I then decided to take the Tornado out of the Ranger. I then noticed right away about a 1.5 mpg increase. This tells me that the Tornado is only a restriction in the intake. You would be better off to spend a little more for a cold air intake kit, which is proven to give power gains, be it only at the upper RPMs. If anyone wants my Tornado I would be happy to send it to you for only the cost of the shipping. I have made this offer before in posts and nobody has taken me up on it yet. I wonder why. This is my personal experience with it.
The systems that automakers use to tumble air is done inside the intake manifold so it affects the air as it is going into the cylindars where air meets fuel to help mix it and is only done at the lower RPM's because at the higher RPM's it becomes a restriction to the faster air flow.
That's funny, When i was reading this post i looked down at the add on the bottom. "TORNADO FUEL SAVER". lol
AG4.0, they have free shipping. If you match that ill take it.
AG4.0, why don't you take them up on their guarantee, return the thing.
If they give you any hassle, post it here for those 'thinking' they might want to try one cause after all, 'it's guaranteed'.
The problem is that its a within 30 day guarantee, and I got it right before starting a summer job working at a camp, so basically I was only putting on about 40 miles a week and wasn't able to test it good enough in that time. I bought it two summers ago when the gas prices were up, thinking what the hell. I wish I would have found FTE before I got it, that $80 or whatever I paid would have bought a lot of gas, I was hoping more for the power gains out of it. Oh well, sometimes ya gotta learn the hard way, and hope others can learn from our own mistakes.
I never thought oof it that way. How much gas it would have to save to pay for itself. Other products, like cold air intakes and exhaust systems, would also take a long time to pay for themselves in gas savings, but you get the added advantage of extra power.

You should try and unload it on eBay to some S-10 owner...
