2000 FORD Powerstroke
Speedometer not working, ABS and overdrive isn't either. I took out the sensor mounted on the rear differential cleaned it off with no results, I bought a new one for $11.84 and still I get nothing! What next? Fuses look good to. Do I need to reset the computer or what the #$@%?!!?
Is the overdrive light flashing? If so, there is a code stored. You need th code to diagnose what's wrong. Without the code all you can do is buy parts and install them, while hoping you find the problem before running out of money.
If you don't have access to a scan tool, AutoZone has been advertising that they will read the codes free.
I think I'd start first by checking with the plugs and wires on the transmission. After that I'd probably bring it in to a tranny shop cause its most likly the computer in the tranny has gon bad.

Not likely. The same computer runs both the engine and transmission, so if the computer had a problem the engine would be running bad, too.
There also isn't any connection on the transmission that can make the speedometer and ABS not work. This is not a transmission problem.
What does connect all three is the vehicle speed sensor. Since the sensor was already changed it's probably a problem in the wiring to that sensor.
I'd still start with pulling the codes. That will give a very good clue as to where to begin.
I had the parts store check for a code, and found nothing. But the overdrive doesn't blink until you start driving over 10 to 20 mph. Would that be a better time to try to read the codes? .....Probably not, but just a thought. ....Well, I guess I'm off to the Ford Dealer Tomarrow.
