identify my tranny
Hi all,
I have a 86' f-250 4x2 w/460 automatic. I belive it is a C-6. I pulled the tranny and the tag is missing. How can i identify it without the tag.
The truck used to be a logging/pilot truck so i do not know if it has been changed or not.

It is most sure a C-6.

Look on the drivers side door post at the sticker. It will list the trans code. I think the trans codes are listed in the owners manual. If not if you post the trans code someone will be able to tell you what it is. Good luck...

I do belive it is a C-6. That is what i am putting back into it.
It does have S-94a stamped into the bell housing but no other markings. Does anyone know what that means??
The door sticker says that it should be a c-6 also. i was just wondering if there were any other ways to identify a tranny.
