Have trans and axle code from inside door, now...

I need to see if someone can break it out for me. 1989 F250, 7.3l, 5 speed. The trans code is "C" and axle is "39". The springs are K F, for what that's worth. Thanks in advance.

Brent, C = ZF 5-speed close ratio. 4.14 low gear ratio. 39 = 6,250# capacity w/3.55:1 ratio with open differential. Can`t help with the `89 spring codes right now but the first letter should be the code for your front springs and the second letter should be the code for your rear springs. Bob

Thanks for the info, horton-racing. Last night I pulled a car hauler trailer to leave at my place in the country, so I could see if I really wanted the truck or not. When I got back, I took it by someone I know who has a diesel shop. He mainly works on construction equipment, but has had Fords since the 80s. He noticed a slight lifter noise, but said he's seen one 7.3l engine where the lifter/pushrod was completely worn out and the truck was still running. He said the truck would be worth the money, but try to get it for less. If I got it and decided I didn't want it after all, he told me I could park it in front of his business and he'd sell it for me, since he has landscape contractors with their Bobcats in all the time. Thanks again.
