My local ford dealer is on crack! I called to get a quote on a 30000 mile service on my 02 f350 psd and they told me it would be 900.00. I am a aircraft mechanic and am capable of doing the work but I thought it would be nice (for once) if someone else did it since its littleleague baseball season and Im the coach. Am I wrong or is this a redicules amount of money for a few fluid changes?
900 must be for his crack! I had my PSD in for what they called the 4X4 package, they changed the fluid in the trans, motor and all diffs changed the air filter and all oil filters, filled the fluids and checked the tire PSI and it was $159.
I know it's not a truck, a guy I work with took his Taurus in for a tune up!
Here is what they did, put it on the machine all ok, Changed the plugs(6) no air filter, no oil change, They did top off his antifreeze and washer fluid! Still the same wires! $195.
I tried to tell him that we could of done it all plus more for around $90. and that included him paying for lunch!!!! You go to the dealer if you have MONEY TO BLOW!
When I get services and oil changes I usually wait on the truck in the lounge where I can see them work on the vehicle. I think I will take Gary's advice and try to do my own next time.
