Gas Pedal

I have about 0.75 to 1 inch of play in my gas pedal before engine rpm's rise. Is this normal? I have a 04 truck with a 03 engine.

Thanks,
Mike

You probably have the adustable pedals, but anyhow, they are electronic and have some slack before they go.

If you have the adjustable pedals, make sure you have no aftermarket floor mats under the accelerator. With the engine off, set the adjustment so the pedals are as close to the floor as possible. press the accelerator to the floor and hold it there then adjust the pedals back up until it just starts lifting the accelerator off the floor with your foot on it. Otherwise you might be able to adjust the pedal too close to the floor and won't be able to get WOT.

Yeah, what he said, plus disconnect your EGR valve. I sure helped my sloppy diesel pedal.

The superchips tune make this issue much better.
I know exactly the initial "dead spot" you are talking about.
it is more pronounced in 04 strategies.
