Does anyone know where to find a good transmission jack? I have tried all the big name tool trucks but the leveling mechanisms are cheesy, the safety chains look like they came off of a swingset, and the price was way too high. I have found an OTC that I like, but i would like to find a better price before i buy this one. (about $900) I'm willing to pay for quality and all, but the jack should not cost as much as a tranny.
If you want a 'good' jack, it's going to cost as much as a tranny, Iv'e had my hydraulic transmission jack for about 30 years (made by Walker) and it has been worth every dime.
It sounds like you may be using it professionally and will want one that is dependable and trouble-free, when you have used it 100 times, it will have cost you $9 per use, a bargain.
OTC has fine tools and I would not hesitate to buy one.
I made one 30 years ago. I looked at my sizzors jack and then duplicated it at 4 or 5 times the size. I put casters on it and have put a 351w block on it.
