intercooler in a '95 powerstroke

I want to put a intercooler on my '95 7.3 powerstroke. I've seen kits out there but they are a little out of my price range. I was wondering if anyone had put a intercooler off a newer 7.3 powertroke into a truck like mine?. I can pick one of those intercoolers for a good price but am wondering if it is possible to install one in the older trucks. Any info would be very helpful.

I don't see why you couldn't. You would need the charge air cooler, both the cooler ducts, and the five way manifold off the donor truck. You'll probably have to make your own mounts, and trim the tubes some as the 94-97 turbo sits lower on the engine.

There are a number of people I know that have done it. One guy determined that the tubing had to be altered somewhat to make it fit without interference, so he's made up a kit for all the necessary parts.
It's not quite as easy as it looks, but it works like a charm if you've got the right parts.

Go to www.gtsmotorsports.com
Geoff has made up a kit for the pipes and has a great article there on how to get it done. Also, www.ford-trucks.com has more info than you would want to read on the topic. It's not really that hard to do, it's just the tubes that don't work correctly, you would have to make or modify the factory ones, the rest is just cutting and welding.

The CPU doesn't need to be reflashed, however there will be some amount of additional turbo lag with the instalation of the CAC. A smaller exhaust turbine housing will correct this.

Sorry, I was in a hurry, and didn't read your name correctly. I thought you were someone else.
