I guess you can't really call mine "dual exhaust" becouse I still run 1 muffler si/do. We chopped right in front of the old muffler replaced it with flowmaster then piped up over the axle and out the back. Since the truck only came with one muffler and you have'nt altered the cats or Y pipe would it still be illegal for the two exit pipes?(Although that would meen a new muffler for you now though) I almost hate to ask again but adding the tips made a big difference in the tone and volume on my truck. I would be interested in what differance they make on a single out. Also I don't seem to hear the whooshing sound. But I can't get my wife to do the drive-by test. How did you manage that?
It would be legal in my state to run a single in dual out muffler because they don't care much about what you do after the muffler. I'll think about changing from my si/so to the dual exit. Does your pipes go straight back under the bumper or out to the sides?
The drive by think went like..."Honey I think something is wrong with this new muffler but I need you to do this drive by thing so I can hear it...then I will know if I should take it back to the shop" Then I stood a little way back from the road and listened as she went by. We both had cell phones so I could tell her what to do. I had her idle along in 2nd and then told her to go full throttle until 4500. Well, the first time she didn't go all the way but the second time I told her to just stand on it! I was positioned so I could pretty much hear the sound through the whole rpm range. Like I posted earlier, it was pretty quiet and made the "whooshing" sound at the higher rpm (above 3000)
4500? wooo man she was gettin' after it...that whoosing sound i think is from the muffler itself...if its a high-flow muffler your going to hear that sound of air/exhaust passing through...mine does the same thing...i wanted more sound to come out rather than that awful whoosing sound...but what can you do
Both sides go straight back and jump over the axle. Then the pasenger side goes straight out the back the driver side bends before the spare (if you have a oversize spare be picky as to placement) and respectivly turn to match coming out the back with 3.5 x 18 inch slash cut magnaflow stainless tips.(cuz they match the staight pipes on my sled) They ended up spliting the difference between the hitch and the outside of the bumper (flareside) and added to the look I think. Comeing out the side wasn't an consideration for me because I get pi***** every time I look at the missing chrome on the center cap That ford wants $60 apiece for.
I'll try my wife again. I haven't tried the "might be broke" angle but sounds like a winner
