i have an 88 f 150 ext cab with a 302 i have a great deal to get 35" tires on my truck but i need to raise it. my buddy said it wouldnt take much but a couple blocks in the back and something about torsion bars (not sure if thats the time) front you can just extend. this guy is really good with this sort of stuff but i just wanna make sure it was accurate please tell if you know this
Stacking blocks can turn out bad for you, they let the axle wrap and cause wheel hop, I've even seen them spit out under had breaking! You would be beter off finding taller blocks for your truck , it would be safer but you will get axle wrap. As far as the front of your truck, you do not have torsion bars. you can put taller coil springs in for 2" or drop axle pivots + coils for more lift. Fords like the scrub front tires when lifted unless done right "ie" camber adjustments.
You're going to need a lift kit for 35" tires, atleast a 4". Even with a 4", it'll rub the inner fender when the tire is slightly turned and compressed. I have a 6" lift and run 35s w/ no rubbing (except on the radius arms, but that happens w/ any oversized tires on this truck).
Your front suspension does not have torsion bars, so whoever this guy you know is needs to brush up on his material. The newer trucks have those (97+). Do a search in this forum (suspension forum) for info on lift kits. Do searches for "skyjacker" or look through the last few pages of threads, popular topic.
