Air conditioner

Im not sure the name of this art (the one that looks like a radiator), had a giaint crack in the line cominging off of it. I tried to seal it with JB weld but it didnt hold. Does anyone know what this part goes for and its technical name?

As for JB weld forget it. If on the condensor its on the high side of the compressor meaning it can spike to 300PSI when its blazzin outside. If its a small enough crack you can have it brazed or tig welded but not many shops will do it. If the line is removable then head to Ford to get a new one. If you get a used one that threw a compressor the metal shavings can get caught up in the condesor so make sure you clean it out real good. If you use compressed air to blow it out make sure you let it sit in the hot sun to dry out the inside as best as possible. We use to put the things in a pizza oven to dry them out but not many people have access to a pizza oven. Being that you have to open up the system to remove condensor dont just stick a new one (used condensor) in there and fill it up with R134 you have to evac it down for at least 30mins and would recommend changing the drier on it.

Still haveing some trouble. I replaced the condesor and still no cold air. I turn the truck on with the ac on max. The compressor only kicks on for a few second then goes off. Keeps on doing this the entire time. Is it supposed to do this?

Did you evac the system out before you added freon. If you did then you dont have enough freon yet. If you didnt evac the system out then we have a problem. You need to evacuate all the air out of the system before you add freon. If you did and are still having this problem with a full load of freon then its probably the clutch cycling switch. Its on the drier or on the line by the drier.

You might consider a new filter/ drier for it also. There is a good chance contaminants and moisture got in. Both taboo for good AC performance. Holding 29 pounds of vacuum for 15 minutes or longer will "boil" most of the moisture out, plus it will help you to see if any leaks in the system after mechanical part replacement.
