99f350sd, I'm glad you like the way your truck rides and I wish i could agree but come to Ny and drive on these roads for a while. I think you would change your mind real quick snow plow springs. I've driven the same truck with different springs and on these roads, you can feel the difference.
I liked the ride of my X springs. But then again I expected a little harder ride.
If I was buying a truck for the comfort level, it wouldn't of been one of these.
I love my SD's. but they are a work truck when you get down to it.
Then again my old 350 had modified B-mack springs in the front to hold up a 11' plow blade.
Take the plow off, and it did feel like riding on a brick with square wheels, so anything is plush compared to that.
I do like the x spings too....on a highway going 70, it is nice to be in a stiff truck on the highway and around town. I just really don't like how the truck changes lanes when you hit a bump in the road. I drive 10 wheeler dump trucks that ride better than my truck and anyone who drives a 10 wheeler knows what i am talking about. I do most of my driving on crappy secondary roads on where I live and after a while the ride tends to get a little annoying after a while. But you are right, it is a truck and unfourtantly for me my truck came with springs I will never need but hey why pass up a great deal. Anyway, the original attempt in my post was to inform the fellow that was interested in the x springs to be aware of the different ride.
Seems a lot of people are looking to upgrade to the X's ,you should make a deal for a swap, get a set that would suit you better.
Kind of a pain in the butt, but if it makes you happier for the long haul, it may be worth it.
Rant:
I'm not talking about you Greg250, but I get the feeling a lot of people think just because they paid a ton of cash for their Super Duty, they think they should get a plush ride for the money spent, when in fact their paying for a work truck, a truck that can out preform most others hauling loads, carrying a plow, etc. When the truck is loaded it rides great, just like it was designed to do, unfortunately when it is empty it rides a little harsher.
Kind of like a double edged sword as they say...you can't have your cake and eat it too, you got to give to get....sorry running out of cliché's here....
A bad ride is inherent with a soild axle truck...thats why ford is catering to the needs of wannabe truck buyers just like everyone else by putting coil springs in the front of the new superdutys. At least they are not putting IFS in the front of the new ones, thank whoever you claim to be you're maker. Once again, I'm not trying to start trouble with anyone here but I am sharing my opinion on springs on a truck that I have put 32,000 miles since new. I bought it to use for work/play...I do like 4 wheeling but with my combo 5.4 gasser, snow plow spings but 4 wheeling with my truck would not be enjoyable at all.Anyway, gotta get ready for a trip to pocono...looking foward to getting my teeth getting shakin loose on my journey...lol. On a side note, anyone who doesnt think i'm a real man for expressing my opinion about my truck, so be it.
