Help with a few door codes please

Hello,

Just got a 1985 F-250 4x4 (HD) for a rehab project. I've got some of the door codes figured out but not all. can anyone fill in the blanks?

TYPE GVW = F268 (F-250 4 x 4 ???)
BODY = KB4 (????)
SPRING = 7K ( I think the 7 is the front springs and the K is the rear
springs)

Other unknowns from Door tag

Direct Special Order Code = 76
Front Axil Accessory Reserve Capacity in pounds = F0403
Total Accessory Reservecapacity in pounds = T0157

Also, can anyone advise what front axil this might have or how I can find out

Rgds

F26 is a f250 4x4. Do you believe this truck to be all original? If it's not original, then the numbers will do you no good, but we can still figure it out if you describe what you have.

Is it a regular cab? If so, you originally will have a dana44HD ttb unless it was some sort of special order and had the dana 50 ttb If it is a supercab, it will come standard with the dana50 ttb front axle.

To ID the front axle, measure the diameter of the front lockout hubs.
~3.25" = D44 TTB
~4" = D50 TTB or D60 solid axle, so look under truck. If the axle pivots in the middle, it is the D50 TTB.
I don't think the D60 was factory available under this model, but it could have been swapped at some point.

TYPE GVW = F268 (F-250 4 x 4 ???) = 1983/ F250 4WD Pickup, 133" WB, 8600 lb. GVWR

BODY = KB4 (????)
KB = Blue cloth & vinyl bench seat on an F150/350
4 = Regular cab w/styleside pickup box

SPRING = 7K ( I think the 7 is the front springs and the K is the rear
springs)
7 = front = E0TZ-5310-S; Using "before March 13, 1981" specs for a 4WD F250 133" WB using that part number, looks to be 3,860 lb. average capacity at the ground
K = rear =
E3TZ-5310-U = can't find any specs on that part number
Google on how to read spring ratings in the trucking industry, look for and read about "at the pad" and "at the ground."

Other unknowns from Door tag

Direct Special Order Code = 76 = Denver
Front Axil Accessory Reserve Capacity in pounds = F0403
Total Accessory Reservecapacity in pounds = T0157

Those don't look like weights to me but rather special-order codes, did you get those from the DSO box?

Also, can anyone advise what front axil this might have or how I can find out
What are the codes in the AXLE box on the sticker?

3800 lb capacity axle in the front is a dana44hd ttb(if it's original from the factory). The reason I keep saying "if it's original"; all you have to do is be around in this forum a little while to realize how old these trucks are getting, and how many guys modify and change things around on them. Like my truck was originally a automatic, but now it's a 5 speed. And it's hard to tell if they used all factory parts.

I pulled these numbers off the various underbody parts.

Front Differential: P113 5 1 (This was punched into the body)

3 54 VE5TA SA

You must have a 3.54 to 1 front ratio and a 3.55 rear ratio. The 3.55 rear could be a Dana if it has a plug in the rear cover. If it has no plug in the rear cover, it's a Ford/Sterling rearend. Since it's a "HD", you should have a thing sticking out the center of the rear wheels with little bolts in a circle. This is a full-floating rear axle.

Front first (cuz it's what I found first in the catalog):

E5TA-SA:

Dana ID Number: 610231-2
3.54:1 ratio
Dana 44, free-running hub, non-limited slip, 3,850 lb. capacity

OK, rear.

I'm betting there's a "3" to the left of that "55" being covered up by a bolt.

V126-A
3.55 10.25 C26

Ford (Sterling) 3.55:1 ratio
10¼" ring gear

No idea of its capacity, I'd need the AXLE code from the door jamb for that.

Thanks for the assistance and help... Its really appreciated. I beleive I've got all the underbody items identified enough to begin researching either rebuild or new purchase decisions...

Direct Special Order Code = 76
This is not what DSO refers to.

Front Axle Accessory Reserve Capacity in pounds = F0403
Total Accessory Reserve capacity in pounds = T0157
FoMoCo usage only, cannot be decoded.
F268 = F250 4WD 133" Wheelbase Regular Cab Pickup, 8,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

KB4: KB = Blue Cloth & Vinyl / 4 = Styleside Pickup.

76 = Denver CO Ford District Sales Office .. where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

This truck was not a Domestic Special Order, because the DSO code only contains 2 digits. 6 digit DSO = Domestic Special Order.

V126-A = Ford (Sterling) WDD 10.25" Full Float Rear Axle / 3.55-1 / non Limited Slip / 6,250 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

Chris: No need um Certification Label Axle Code, because you have: V126-A = Text, Section 40, page 18: Parts List #258 = WDD

Now look up F250 WDD rear axle in the application charts, the axle capacity is listed.

Yeah, I got that far, even looked at some Parts Lists and didn't see any capacity ratings in any and gave up at that point.

Ohhh, ohhhh, ohhhh, Do mine!!!

Seriously, some of the stuff is self explanatory but some things I'd like to know.

WB= Wheelbase, which is 155"
X268 I'm assuming is F250 Super Cab
Body KDM... ???
Trans K = C6
Axle 35 = 4.10 open.
Tape 3... ???
Spring 7 K - As listed above.

Then there's the 1C 1G part. Paint codes?

DSO 13? Where did they send my truck originally?

Also, what are the F0351 and T0119 codes?

Oh, man!!!

What I can say real fast....

The F & T codes can't be decoded to anything, I believe that was special-order information used internally at the factory.

1C & 1G are two colors, this means your truck came as a two-tone.

The rest of it, I will have to go to the book...................

Ahh... Should have guessed that's why there were two...

I found 1G is Light Smoke Metallic and 1C is Black.

Is there any way to tell how the truck was painted? It's all black now.

I found this diagram for the 86
