I have a 02 f350 4x4 and want to level the truck. I looked at the door jamb and can not figure out which part is the spring code for the front. to the far right there is one section that looks like this SPR but I cant figure it out.
VB
can someone help me figure this out?
99f350sd,
I have the same springs as Sharky. VB. My truck has 116K now and the springs don't feel and look too hot. You were saying if those V springs are replaced with X springs I'd get about a 1.5" lift?
Yup I went from v to w to X...snow plow install says that if you have the package you have to adj the brackets 1.5 inches for the increase...I measured it and from the bottom bumper bolt to ground normal is 24 X is 25.5 I think thats what it was ...
If you go with the x spings, ie: snow plow spings prepare yourself for a pretty harsh ride. I have them in my truck and I personally dont care for the way they ride and all of the rattles I have in my truck because of them. But your decision in up to personal preference. They do level the truck. I do beleive that ford sells leveling springs for the superduty's just not sure how stiff they are. Also you may want to try a 4x4 shop or spring shop and ask them what they can get you.On side note if you have a diesel and go with the x springs the ride difference is not that bad due to the extra weight but if you have a gasser you will notice it.
Thanks for the info so far. Called the stealership in Yucca Valley which quoted me $194.08 each plus $435 for install, totalling almost 900 bones for this project. Is this install tough on an older truck with the nuts and bolts seamingly molten together? If I have instructions I can possibly do it with help of a buddy. OR, is there an alternative which replaces the springs also?
The reason why I keep pursuing the springs' replacement is because they don't look healthy, coming apart etc. Thank again,
My 99 flew apart...Each side you can do in 45 minutes... aaaaaa no brainer...your dealer is a rip off...He gave you a high retail price I paid $125.00 now that I looked at my rec.. That was wholesale find a better dealer...
If you have a 350, then you probably have the 4 (3.5)" blocks in the rear, and 2" (from stock, not 2+x) won't mathematically level it out. Although, I have heard that perfectly level SDs look nose-high because of the body lines.
If you are replacing your springs because they are shot and want some more lift at the same time, I think that you'd be better off getting 3-4" lift springs.
Going from a W or V spring to a X spring doesn't really seem worth the trouble and cost for an extra 1/2 to 1".
