the tsl is just a standard build (considering) bias tire but the sx is extra thick so you can run low low psi (0-5) and not worry as much about slicing into the sidewall when crawlin!
They state on there web site "dual belts" and I have seen these advertised in magazines as steel belted. They also say bias ply but if they have belts in them doesn't this make them a radial? Maybe the belts aren't steel. Now I'm confused!

Bias-ply tires can have belts in them and not be a radial tire. Radial tires got their name by the base cords running radially from bead to bead whereas bias-ply tires have their cords running at about a 30-degree angle to each other.
I had a set of swamper radials and they were crap. I had to take a u-turn once and crawled up on a curb...AT IDLE...it later felt as if one of my tires was out of balance. After looking I noticed a dimple/deformation in the side wall where it meets the side lugs. I couldn't believe that crawling up a 6 inch curb would do that to a tire. I'll never own another set except on a dedicated mudder.
I run a set of TSL,SX's on my 79" supercab, they are a little out of round when cold but after a couple of miles they run diwn the road pretty good, I've had 6sets of super swampers ( not counting my 2 sets of boggers) all of them 38's except one set of 35's TSL,SX's, TSL radials & TSL,ssr's and love every set, never tried the bias except for the boggers, and that was mud only
