97 Intake ??

bhredpowerstroke,
I didn't change the silicone tube. My intake goes into the original hard-black rubber connector that originally connected to the plastic tube from the filter housing. Stated another way, from the turbo I have the original red-orange silicone tube, the hard-black rubber connector (which is bolted to a factory bracket and provides vibration relief), then the 4" exhaust pipe, then the filter.

The Tymar is better in that it comes with a new blue silicone tube from the turbo. There have been reports of the original red-orange tube collapsing. I keep a close eye on the red-orange tube for any evidence of weakness, but since my truck has 177+K miles, I figure if the tube was going to collapse, it would have done it by now.

The only reason I don't have the Tymar is because of the ongoing long-term replacement cost of the Donaldson/Baldwin filters. The next time I change filters using the Purolator, I will have almost recovered the $22 cost of the 4" exhaust elbow.

Good luck:-)
