Plan on installing a 3" body lift on a 1991 s/c 4x4 with the 4.0 and am having a hard time with the body mount bolts. If anyone has done this i would appreciate any help as far as what tools needed for body bolts , brake lines , bumpers ,anything ......................
thanks
I hate to say it, but sounds like you either need an impact/air gun or a big freakin' breaker bar and some help from a friend on the bottom side - had mine installed, but I have had to re-tighten a couple of them and used an impact/air gun -
Thanks,i was afraid to use the smoke wrench because there is a slight gas leak,(just picked truck up and has been sitting for a year and a half) do you know what size the star wrench is and how bout them bolts (clips) on the bottom(frame).thanks
tod
When I had to re-torque a couple of mine they were just regular bolts, after reading your post I realized that the regular bolts replaced the star ones that came stock. In other words, you got me stumped there. I am just guessing that if you got the right star wrench for the top in conjunction with a cheater pipe...maybe????? Sorry I don't have a better suggestion than that.....if you are anywhere near Houston I could get you in contact with the guys that did mine, they might help with some advise. Also you said previously that your truck is a 91', might want to try spraying a penatrent on those bolts and letting it soak in....like spray it on a few times and let it soak for a night.....????? Just an idea....
Thanks, actually in the detroit area here.I guess ill have to just put on some good gloves and give her a good grunt or two . Thanks again for the quick reply i appreciate it .
No prob, let us know how it works out.....take your time, it's not brain surgery, but there is alot involved, it's time consuming, you will have to re-align your bumpers, I'm not sure about your year model, but my 99' had to have the steering knuckle extended I think, or something like that???Anyway, when you get done it will have ben worth all of the work.....good luck -
I will try to take pics and post them when i figure that out. I have to say I have been reading posts for quite a few months on here and the 2004 f150 page and am quite impressed at the help alot of people are offering .
By the way it is going to be a trail rig, already have some 31" swampers lined up for it from my old jeep and its got some beauty marks but thats nothing flat black wont cover . thanks again ..............

Oops , forgot to ask if you would know if the bolt pattern on a76 cj7 would be the same as yhe 91 4x4 5 lugs on both but my luck the patterns would be diffrent thanks again .Tod
jeep cj wheels would fit pre-97 f150/bronco (not shure about 97 & up f150) 5on 5-1/2 pattern. ranger hubs are 5 on 4-1/2 pattern (also a common trailer bolt Pattern) now later wrangler and cherokee rims are the same as a ranger. my winter wheels are from a '01 wrangler.
