althought it's stainless, it's still smaller around than you can get aftermarket. Aftermarket normally always beats out stock features

I'd be shocked if the 03 Ford stock pipes on mine were stainless ?!?!?!!?
They looked like aluminized to me and,
like you say, SMALL compared to the aftermarket...
and don't even compare the downpipes -
it was like a crushed straw compared to the alaskan pipeline !

I did do the muffler delete for about six months and getting past the LOUD cabin from it...
once I put the turbo back on it I realized how restrictive the stock pipes WERE !!!

I currently have a DPPI exhaust on an '03. The cat is in place. I can't hang with the jet-engine screech anymore!!! I ordered the Banks turbo-back yesterday. I kinda like my truck to sound like a truck, not an airplane. But to each his own, thats what makes the world go around.

I agree. I fly jets for a living. I get all the jet engine sound I can stand.

uponyou21 - How well did that warpspeed exhaust fit ?? What brand of muffler do they use ? Are you still happy with it. They have one of the cheapest exhaust that I have seen. I just wondered about them being so cheap though. Are you happy with it ??

I'm getting the Warpspeed Downpipe for my truck, and having and exhaust shop do a straight pipe back off of that. My question is, my exhaust shop has done one of these before and it took him almost 2 solid hours to get the stock DP off. Is there an easy way to take it off? Something that will save us 2 hours worth of heartache?

The easiest way is to go from the bottom and as high as you can get, cut the downpipe with a sawzall...
in two pieces it will come out much easier...

You have a SD or Ex ?
FYI, I had a straight pipe on my Ex and it was too loud on long trips.... so got a turbo back and is MUCH nicer !

There has been a lot said about turbo whine on an '03 with aftermarket DP (except Banks). Is there a noticeable increase in turbo whine on '04 with non-Banks DP's? I want rumble not whine.

jdad You are correct. I forgot to add that stainless is better for areas that use salt in the winter. the point I was trying to make is that 4" is 4" doesnt mattter weather its aluminuim or stainless it will all flow about the same. For 2003 models banks does have the resonater on it to quiet the jet sound. I'm not sure about 2003, but 2004 does have 409 stainless pipe in 3.5 diameter. I removed the muffler and installed a straight pipe that I made out of some old exaust. I have collected a few from doing installs on other peoples trucks. I made it so that it just unbolts, so I can re-install the muffler for warrantee work. The point I was trying to make with HOG is that it has stainless steel hangers, is highly polished. which means less nooks and crannies for corrosion to collect, not to mention its priced $100's less than the banks. I'm trying to give as much info on the systems I've installed, so others can make an educated decision when buying. hope this helps Jerry.

For the Banks, I've decided to go with the turbo-back system and found it on a reduced price at the portadiesel website I'll update once it's installed later this month on the sound.

Banks exhaust

I put a banks exhaust on my '04 F-350. I like the sound it makes and it was only $150 more than an aluminum one another shop tried to sell me. It did not increase the turbo whine and I will be keeping the truck for longer than 5 years so I did not want to replace it twice.
