BobF350......WELCOME to FTE, where have you been with all this mileage.
No matter we are happy to have you now. Be sure to visit the guidelines and definitely stop by the sponsors at the top of the page, with out them we could not be here.
In addition, would you please go over to the high mileage thread and post your info. Be sure to add your build date, white sticker on the left hand valve cover.
Man I missed that. It was too early. 22,000? Have you changed fuel filters yet? That would have entailed removing the plug to drain the HFCM. You should drain that water separator every month.
i drian it about every 3to4 tank fulls the plug started to get worn and to all the loosening and tightening to drain and finally stripped and didnt really wanna get out the hammer and punch just yet. tried a short easyout but that made it worse. all the miles are from Drag racing events and NO adjustments after 12,000???????
yes ive changed the filters every 10,000
I had a nasty door rattle and it turned out to be the window track bolt. When you open your door, is there a hex bolt between the latch and bottom of the door?? That's where the loose bolt was on my truck.
I ORDERED the replacement plug i got 2 just for the hell of it if i knew the new ones were steel id have just gotten 1.
what about the removal of the old one dont think a hammer and punch will do it and its round now. WTF were they thinking my old dodge and old powerstroke was easy to drain. i figured id have to replace it one day as the brass started to losen up on the allen after a few drains and with 22,000 i cant even tell ya how many times ive LAYED ON MY BACK to drain it.
im gonna pull the fuel lines unbolt the manifold its in and drill it out .
Thats my fix iam hoping just waiting for the plugs to come in
It costs $7 plus change for a replacement with the little O ring. Cheap insurance. I haven't stripped mine (yet). But I'll have an extra in case I do. The plug is brass because it is easier to replace the plug than it is the manifold.
