I just purchased a 1994.5 F350 PSD-- all the owners manuals were with the truck--- except for the diesel owners supplement. Does anyone know where I can get a manual that will list the scheduled maintanence, filter specifications, capacities etc.? Are there service/shop manuals available as well?
Hello
I have a concern
First of all it is my truck. I have a 1995 Power Stroke 7.3 DIT Diesel that is not running like it should. When I start her up, the thermostat shows that the engine is overheated within minutes. I don't know what the problem is?? Do you? I also found out that one of the heads were cracked? What exactly does that mean? Will I need a new engine? How can I fix these problems? Please help me, I want to get my truck running like it is suppose to.=I
First, I would change the thermostat. Get one from Ford or Navistar, I bought one from Napa at first and it is not designed correctly. When you look at the original, there is a little check valve on one side that lets the air bleed out of the block when the thermostat is closed, the Napa unit did not have it. I had the Napa unit in for about 3 days and it heated worse than with the one I replaced.
When you pull the upper hose from the engine, be carefull with the twisting and prying, that little pipe looks like it could be mangled pretty easy.
Also, if you drop of the 3 bolts, it's a royal pain trying to retrieve it from under the fuel filter
Give this a shot and get back to us.
About the cracked head, was it replaced? If it was done right, there should be no problem with it.
Now, about posting this exact same question to about 15 threads, it's taken me about 10 minutes to go through and edit them and I'm still not sure if I got them all. All you need to do is start a new thread and ask once, it's pretty rare when a question is asked and no one knows the answer.
A good basic manual is the Haynes Diesel Techbook #10330. Most parts stores have it or can get it; it runs about $15.00. Very good troubleshooting sections on fuel systems and glow plugs. Covers all the basics of the 6.9, 7.3 IDI, and the PSD, as well as older GM diesels.
ON EDIT: oops, I thought this was a different thread that was posted recently. I notices the date after I posted. Oh well, maybe someone can use this information.
Go to http://ford.com/en/vehicles/owners/default.htm and enter your vehicle info, then snoop around. I was able to download my owners manual and supplement for my 2000, you can probably find yours.
That doesn't include the diesel supplement though. I did a search through old posts because someone recently requested information about the diesel supplement. I though this was the thread until I saw the date after I posted.
