dash airbags

does anyone know how to turn off the passenger side air bag of a 99 expy? its my wifes ride, and we are soon to have a child in 5 months. there is no way she could reach the baby in the back and putting the baby in the front with the airbags is worse. i wanted to have a switch to turn the passenger side airbag off like the trucks do. she needs to be able to reach the baby and keep it safe. i know i might get blasted for kids in the front seat, but its better than having a child in the rear she cant monitor properly. so any help?

I have no idea how to bypass the system although in theory it seems relatively easy. Insert a toggle between the sensors and the airbag.

I don't understand your logic though. I have two young childern and have never once had a problem with them in the back seat. I would think trying to tend to and monitor a child in the front (way too distracting) would be far more dangerous than having the same kid in the MIDDLE of the rear seat area. Furthermore, you might be breaking some laws by allowing the child to ride up front. I'd make sure it's legal before attempting.

there in lies the problem for us, we have no middle seat, we have middle seats! 2 captain chairs in the middle row. so the baby is directly behind the driver or on the other side of the truck. and for a woman who is 5'4 its a long reach to that other side. lol. so thanks. ill keep checking, there must be a way as the picups have them.

Right, I figure it's basically what I mentioned, a toggle (keyed) to cut the power from reaching the actual bag.
