what are the plugs under my seats related to the airbag? 2004 ranger

standard 60/40 bench. no power. its a round connector with 2 pins. As im working with my seat fabrication I have unplugged this during testing on the passenger side. it causes the airbag light to flash several times then come on.

Is this a sensor so the airbag knows someone is sitting in the seat? I have tried jumping it (so it thinks there is someone there) to no avail.

Ideas on what it is, what it does, and how it communicates to the system?

in looking a bit closer it appears they may be related or connected to the seat belt. So does the airbag somehow talk with the seatbelts?

yes it is part of the airbag sensor,,,it does not have to do with weight in seat but it does work with the part of the seat belt that you lock around your waist,,, if you where in a bad crash you might have to replace the seat belt retractor and with it unplugged it thinks you where in a wreck ,,,,there is a tread or post in here somewhere that gives more info but not sure where it is

ok, good info. I did a probe of it and it is sending pulses of power through both contacts which is kinda odd. I think the easiest way to deal with this might be to rob the seatbelts/sensor out of another vehicle such that it can be plugged in and then secured under the seat.

ok, spook, you put me on the right direction. I took the seat belt assembly out of the 06 escape that im using the seats from for my truck and did a little "test wiring". The airbag warning light went out and it seems to be happy with it. Im probably using older style seat belts on the seats so it wont effect the operation. As I make my final decisions on the install I will make a proper wire harness adapter.
