Down shifting lag
Do all Rangers/Mazdas with the 3.0 automatic have a one to two second lag in down shifting when you push the pedal to the metal? Mine is a '95 with 29,000 kilometers on the odometer. The truck also hesitates when you're steady on the gas. You can feel the speed pick up and drop off. Other than that the truck runs fine, no codes, idles perfect etc...

My guess is the kickdown cable is not working properly. Have you changed the fluid and filter? It could be something as simple as that. Also, check the fluid level to make sure it is not high or low.
