Arrow 2015 6.7 PSD - Turbo Lag / No-Lag Reports

There may be some people who've never owned a turbo-charged diesel before, so getting a level-set is important.

Generally speaking, turbo-lag is the gap in time between when you press down on the throttle and the engine's response with torque. Very little RPM increase is experienced during this gap generally only a few hundred in my experience.

Some people will tell you that the turbo-lag lasts until the engine gains 800-1000 RPM or more before the engine really starts pulling hard. While there may be some turbo-lag involved here, what you're really experiencing is an engine that is accelerating into its power band where it starts building a substantial amount of power..

Turbo-lag is generally only experienced in the lower RPMs.

Regardless of your definition of Turbo-Lag, tell us what your experience is with your 2015 6.7 PSD..

I voted yes with hesitation. Pun intended. The new Platinum I test drove had less than 30 miles on it. I entered the Interstate about 30mph and punched it. There was some lag, but when the engine caught its breath I was at 90mph before I could get my head out of the headrest. Much more power than my '11 and that is saying something.

I got 1k miles on mine now, while it has what seams like turbo lag its hardly there. I had a '10 and a '11 powerstroke before this. I think it has to do more with the delay from the drive by wire throttle system then anything

I have around 140 miles on mine and am trying to break her in right, so I have not punched it or anything yet, however; from a normal stop to start, lag is pretty much non existent. I will speak more when I can give it a little more throttle. The difference between my 2015 and my 2011 is night and day already. My 2011 surged and had lag, lots of it. The tranny and turbo were at fault. My experience tells me that it would appear that when people are getting on it and feeling 'lag' it's probably more of the traction control than anything. If there is great lag, it will be felt at more speeds than just 'punching it'.

Whether the TC is turned on or off, it will always be present slightly in the majority of vehicles by manufacturer standards (safety lawsuits etc), I assume Ford is no different.

One of the most perfectly matched turbo vehicles I have ever driven was my wife's Volvo XC60. I think it had less turbo lag then the GT-R I drove. Of course, neither were diesel, but having zero turbo lag is almost impossible.

None the less, having a poll with 'no lag' etc is extremely skewed as again, not having any lag is about impossible. It also goes off of everyones knowledge of what lag is, and their overall knowledge and experience in turbo vehicles, diesels, and vehicles as a whole.

So far, I think my '15 6.7 is about the same as the '13 6.7 I had before.
