How much better is the tru cool than the stock trans cooler on my 95? If i decide to install one these does it simply replace the stock cooler by tapping into the exsisting lines? How much do they actually decrease trans operating temp?
Thanks Guys.

I just bought a tru cool max 40000 gvw and put it on my truck and so far crusing around town temp is about 140 at 85-90 deg outside air and towing is about 160-170 with 7500 lbs on a 6% grade, outside air temp about 80 deg. Over all it droped the temp about 25 to 30 deg on intown and towing. Worth the money in my opinion.

The stock cooler is rated at 10000lb gvw. My Tru-Cool is rated at 24000lb gvw. So, it's considerably better suited to the task of keeping the tranny cool when the truck is working.
Dale Isley recommends replacing the stock unit with the Tru-Cool, not trying to run them inline. The additional restriction from the stock cooler is too much, considering how little it would help. A friend of mine has a way to convert the stock cooler into a power steering cooler, so don't throw it away, just in case.

Yep, I also put the big one on. It was an LPD even though I don't think I need it with this year. Guys using these have been towing 12 - 15k trailers across the Az desert and havent been close to pushing it. I got rid of the stock, put on the new and don't worry about it anymore.

CLK,

did you have to remove your grill to add your tru-cool? Also which cooler in there is the existing tranny cooler? Did the tru-cool max come with all the hardware needed? I ordered one last night and it is on the way just curious how hard to install/ and how long?

I installed the tru-cool in line with the oem cooler and flow checked it. No drop in flow rate. Here are pictures of the install.
