Thumbs up New Gauges Installed

Good afternoon, just joined site and already have (1) question. Just recently installed gauges (Pryo/Boost) on my 2002 PSD and I was wondering what is the normal gauge readings. The only mods (if you consider what I did mods) is an AIS intake box and Quadzilla Stealth Module (set at 40 hp). After a few test trips, local and highway, the Boost averages 2-3 psi local, and highway about 5-7 cruising at 65, upon entering the highway and running through the gears (6 sp) the boost did go as high as 26-28. The Pryo temp (local) averages 400-450, with the highway 600-700. The pyro went as high as 950-1000 when I got on it 80-85 with boost running up to 28-30. I installed the pyro pre-tubo, into the exhaust manifold, finally got the nerve to drill the manifold and tap it, little uncomfortable lying on back. Should I have put some sealant on the threads? Maybe anti seize compound? Sorry for the long post, next I'm going to add an oil cleaning filter. anyh pro/cons?

Thanks

welcome to FTE, sounds like you got a good handle on things. the boost is right where it should be for the mods you have and the egt sounds right on as well, dont let the egt run over 1250* for any length of time and everything should be fine. as far as sealant on the threads of the pyro probe, after you have run it a while look and see if it is leaking(black soot)if it is not just leave it. mine leaked a little i put some hi temp thread sealer on it and it was fine

Yea your temps and boost sound normal to me!! And ditto what Wlihntr said about not running past 1250 for long - just to be safe I won't let mine go over 1200 sustained. But don't be scared up you're busy beating that Dodge next to you and you glance up and it's bounced up to 1300 - just don't keep it there for long. You'll get used to knowing when to watch it!

The tip of the probe should be in the center of the exhaust manifold, including the bushing appox 1 to 1 1/4 inches in

What gauges do you have? I guess it's your call, but pre turbo is the best way to go, exact readings, post turbo you have to calculate your readings constantly because the EGT's change constant. Under 300 safe to turn off PSD, over 1200 be careful (pre trubo) I guess post turbo would be under 100 to turn off and over 900 be careful. I drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold, plenty of meat for good threads, no leaks

i have one gauge, hehe, a pyro. yeah i would much rather have a pre
turbo set up. but i will have to make sure that it's ok to hook it up pre
on the ol' turbo psd before i install it.
