I have a 02 psd and I want to put the thermometer and compass read out in my pick-up. When I bought the rig the salesman told me it was already wired for the display and all I have to do is buy the read out for around $250. Some one else said I have to buy all the wiring and sensors and it would be 3 times as much. Does anyone have any answers?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Aug-02 AT 06:46 PM (EST)]I don't know if I would waste my money on the thermo setup.....I do not belive they are very accurate. And I have not found a way to test it yet.
The thermometer is within a couple of degrees out of the sun. In my garage if the AC set at 82 degrees, where I keep it in the summer, the truck will always show 84. Could be calibration, I'm sure the digital thermostat for the HVAC is correct as I've verified it with a second opinion.
Now parked in the sun it more or less shows the temp inside the truck. I see 102 degrees often when the radio guy says it's 93 degrees outside. When moving down the road, it always reads 5 degrees or so higher than any bank sign I find or the radio weather.
The compass is sort of a general "North is over yonder" indicator. I know mine is at least 10 degrees off. I get a NE reading on it when I know I'm pointing more Northerly than East. I'm used to the accuracy of a navigation compass... so the one in the truck is pretty much a joke.
