I bought the truck a few days ago. I saw the check engine light but figured it ran so well I'd just fix whatever it was. They moved these trucks several hundred miles before they ended up on the lot I bought it from. I'm just glad it was something not too hard to fix. Whew!
I figured it was something like that. Most of the time the light isn't for something that will get torn up like that but, that cam sensor is a pretty poor design. I think about half of them that I replace takes out the syncro too. (yours looks like it got a little hot, that's why I said that) Glad to hear you got it going again.
I should get back to work....I'm supposed to be out fixing vehicles right now, just stopped in for lunch.
