If you snoop around in here a bit you'll find lots of posts about cruise control not working.
Lately I've seen quite a few bad brake pressure switches on the brake master cylinder and bad clocksprings. The clockspring or "airbag sliding contact" is the piece that electrically connects the steering column to the steering wheel.
And along the lines of what Roger said, make sure your brakes lights are working. If they dont work your cruise probably wont either.
Well, the Forum comes through. Today I stopped at the local Ford dealer and picked up the cruise control switch that screws in adjacent to the master cylinder. As the guy at the parts counter said, the toughest part of the replacement will be leaning over the fender!!! For anyone else needing the solution the part # is F3TZ9F924BB, $33 RETAIL. A 9/16th and about 35 seconds and I was back in business. Thanks all!
