gasoline vs. diesel
I have a '97 F-250 7.3 Power Stroke. I've had it for almost 3 years now and have no problems. My made a major mistake and was in a hurry one day and put only $5.00 of normal gasoline in the tank. There was still some diesel in the tank. What do I do? Do I need to drain the tank or just fill it up with diesel and let it mix in with the regualr gasoline. I do have a separate tank that I can use until then. HELP!!!!
Saying it was only a few gallons just fill it up with the diesel and don't worry about it. A lot of people used to use a few gallons of gas to act as anti gel in the winter. That and from experience we had the same happen a few times. just a whole tank instead. so we just put 5 gallons into the gas vehicles to get rid of it. But we still had another 5 to 10 gallons left in the diesel tank. Did that with no problems.
Pull off the crimp connectors and disconnect the hose that leaves the fuel switch where it connects with the hard line that goes to the engine bay, that will leave you with a foot or so of hose to drop into a 5 gallon can. Fuel will drain from the tank you have the selector switch set to as long as the key is on with the selector switch set to the tank you have gas in. An air compressor can be used with a rag wrapped around a blow nozzle to pressurize the tank at the fill for a quicker emptying process. Use a low pressure so you don't harm the lines or tank. Make sure you pressurize the same tank your selector switch is set at.
After you empty the tank (or get fumes blowing from the tank if you are using compressed air), you can fill the tank up with diesel and the small amount of gasoline that might be left will not harm anything.
How do I know all this? Hmmm...

If he filled it up with diesel right away i would probably be safe also, but better safe than sorry isnt bad when your talking about a 5 thousand dollar short block and a 30,000 dollar truck
