OK, so this question is less serious than the tranny leak...sue me.
Have any of you managed to find a tailgate cap (cover) for your Bronco? I am sick and tired of using touch up paint all over the top of my tailgate, and it seems silly to repaint the whole thing until the problem is solved.
Lots of them out there for pickup trucks, I guess the aftermarket forgot that us Bronco folks actually put large heavy stuff in the back of our Broncos.
Cool Idea my brother works for a roofing sheet metal outfit I'm going to ask if he can fabricate something similar to a tailgate protector using stainless steel sheet metal.
I,ll post something later if I can get him to do it.
Are you talking about the tailgate protector strips that fit on the end of a pick-up tailgate?? I think one from an F-150 would fit, but securing it woth bolts would be kinda tough. If you can find one that uses the 2-sided 3M tape, it might work if you remove the weatherstrip. I applied a few coats of DupliColor spray-on bedliner to the inside of my tailgate and that is fair, but it will sratch off from a heavy object.
Talking about the cap that covers the painted surface at the top of the tailgate. My Bronc is a XLT, so the inside of the tailgate is carpeted. Aftermarket companies make loads of caps for pickup trucks (plastic, chrome, diamond plate) just looks like nobody makes one for the Bronco tailgate. I guess they figure we don't load heavy stuff that could scratch the paint in the back of our Broncos.
Just a thought. How about rhino lining or equivalent bed liner, applied to the top of your endgate. It would protect it and you can get it in different colors to match.
That would be something to capitalize off of. Everyone I know has wanted one. So if every Bronco owner wanted one, that would be a great aftermarket pc. Look for anti chip guard, a roll of this clear vinyl-like guard for the lower section of your autos body to protect it from road debris. Works great, give it a try...or use the diamond plate simulated kind available from Summit Trucks (www.summitracing.com)
That would be nice. Mine was all scratched up but I had the tire carrier removed and the holes welded and painted so the guy had to blend the paint across the whole top part. Now it's scratch free. A cap would also hide rust if you have any. They do tend to rust near the window.
