90 F350 brakes went out, front brakes gone, rear brakes work a little( very little). Truck in the shop since this morning mechanic just called said come pick it up we can't fix it. He replaced the front brake calipers and the pedal still goes to the floor. I'm thinking the fluid needs drained and new put in but also maybe the mastercylinder is shot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Eric
It's your lie, tell it however you want.
Took the truck to Ford. Said everything worked properly but they wanted to replace the new calipers (Cheveron did those) pads and rotors which it needs but also wanted to replace the wheel bearings which were just done when I had the inner tube seals replaced. Quoted me over 1,100 to do. Then told me there was no wiring harness or ABS sensor. Told them I could do the pads and rotors cheaper thanked them for their time paid the bill and left. Brakes better but not what they should be. :-)
Okay, now I'm going to show my stupidity. How is the powersteering pump and the brakes related? Now I have front brakes but the rear brakes are intermittent. Any and all advice is always greatly appreciated. Just don't mind the stupid questions.
replaced mastercylinder twice. Powersteering pump was replaced the day I bought the truck drove off the lot and all but one belt broke. They replaced all the belts and put a new powersteering pump in. If I go slow or am turning the wheel and going nowwhere I get a jerk in the steering wheel. Rear brakes I feel aren't engaging enough I feel. Trying to narrow it down . Any and all advice greatly appreciated.
Hi, Are you sure there is no ABS or (RABS valve) on your braking system? I'm not sure about the 90's but my 92' gave me a run for my money bigtime. I replaced my front calipers and pads, rear shoes and checked cylinders (replaced the previous year), replaced master cylinder with rebuilt and then with new, and went down every inch of line. I had myself, two in-house mechanics, and my Ford dealer baffeled. Finally, we decided to replace the RABS valve. After this was done, the trucks braking returned to normal. No uncertain feeling in the pedal. Direct brakes they way they used to be. The RABS valve wasn't cheap but it was well worth the cost. I just wish that we started there 1st! Good luck. Jake.
