az4x4bronc, if you have time to do a conversion like this I would do the swap. You can R+R the firewall from the A/C cab to the 78 cab and you will also get rid of the smelly gas in the truck. You will have to add a tank to the bed if not there already. If you want the OE look stick with the factory cab setup
supercab4x4dually, I don't know why people think that you should not do it if you don't know how. I have learned everything myself by the matter of just getting in there and tearin it apart myself
when we pulled my cab, we used a strap and did sorta like was mentioned before. we slid the cab back a few inches to fit the strap under neath it. we ran the strap under the front cab mounts, up the sides of the doors, ran a piece of wood, a 2x4 will work, under the fronts of the drip rails, and put the strap up over the roof, connecting the ends with a clevice hook. i didnt really want to put the full weight of the cab on the roof, i was afraid it might wrinkle or something. doing it like this held the cab straight up since most of the weight is in the front of the cab. im not sure if i explained that very clearly, if you need anything clarified, i can try again.
I just did a cab swap Kjkozak2 is right on the money. The only other advise i have is to strip the cab down take the seat out and the doors. You wouldnt believe the weight difference. Good luck, John
