Most 90s trucks used TFI ignition if I am correct. The Mustang 5.0L did too. The TFI distributor is compter controlled and is nothing like the duraspark. I don't believe you can get a TFI distributor guts to work in an FE. I would have a distributor curved properly for your build and set up the computer from there.
My career is computers. My hobby is souping up this old truck. I don't try to mix the two.
MSD makes a distributor that works with the 5.0 EFI computer. You might get them to wire up a distributor and ign. box. so you could use the computer on a FE
I asked the Holley techs if my MSD Billet FE distributor could work with their ignition control. In an explanation I did not competely understand, I think they said "Yes".
I might have known what they were saying if I had the Holley system and instructons in front of me...but I didn't.

It is my plan to build the 390 I have under the work bench and put it into a 56 Ford 2 door.
I have built a 5.0 engine with a Victor Jr that I had bungs welded into. The fuel rails are available in length without holes so you can adapt them to a Edlebrock FE single plane intake with bungs. Then You can adapt a 5.0 computer with a "Tweecer" or a accell EFI computer or any one of dozens that are now available. Firing order can be handled in the computer. The Holley Distributor and most others can be used or better yet you can adapt a crank trigger from Summit or Jeggs. It will take some brain storming but it can be done.

Does anyone make a manifold for the FE motor with PFI bungs already cast in?
Scouder's manifold looked like it has nitrous-oxide bosses, so I wonder how one of those would be to adapt if we just wanted PFI???

Not that I know of. It is not hard for any machinist to do it though. I know of a guy in Dallas that can locate, drill and weld the right locations. He built my 5.0 Intake before they became the rage. The nitrous holes are a different size and threaded. The injectors are o-ring slip fit with brackets to attach rails to manifold. The injectors should be approx. 36 pounders you can get off thunderbird turbo coupes in the wrecking yards. A set of 8 will support 450 + HP.
Bah, sounds like it's more work than it's worth for the 360 right now. Sometime before I put the 390 in, I'll call up MSD about putting the 5.0L distributor guts in and FE distributor.
What's this I was reading about DUI? Uses a GM HEI setup or something? I'm sure I could make that work with the Commander 950.
EDIT: Better yet, I'll call up Holley and see if there's a way to make it work with the Duraspark.

The HEI is a pretty cool design.
I've used the module for research projects and they're pretty robust as long as you attach them to a good heat sink
.
I'm not sure if DUI makes a unit for the FE.
My guess is that the Holley would work with the Duraspark, but you'd have to know what kind of signal they are capable of producing and what the Duraspark was expecting to fire the coil.
Ford TFI is completely computer controlled. Dwell and timing. There is nothing in a TFI dizzy but the reluctor and pickup. The computer controls the advance curve and total timing. You can only set the base timing. TFI was used on ford vehicels since 83. On CFI, EFI, and Feed back carbs. For an FE, there's no TFI dizzy made. If you can use GM HEI with the holley injection, than you can use Duraspark. HEI and Duraspark dizzys have mechanical advance in the dizzy. meaning, you can't have the computer contol your timing, ecept maybe in a way simular to MSD's timing retard control.

Homework and other things keep popping up. Cant seem to get a minute to mess with it. Driving me nuts, I want to make this thing go, but priorities take over.
However, I did get the exhaust fully hung, and the fuel pump installed. I have also ran some fuel line. I know, pathetic, but I have things that need to be done. Hopefully this week sometime I can mess with it. It's supposed to warm up substantially by Wednesday, maybe I can work on it sometime thereafter.

Sounds like you've still made significant progress. Small steps toward the goal make way for the big, fun stuff. Your priorities are right on track. You're wise to get your homework done first. Heck, I sure didn't have too many fun car projects while I was trying to finish engineering school. You're lucky.
I dont hear it fired up yet? LOL!! Your doing it the right way...to stay on your studies..the truck will be there..its not going to far....Glad too hear your making progress tho..remember Rome wasnt built in a day! Good Luck! Russ
It's installed, and I fired it up! After getting the idle set right, I took it for a short drive. I can see that there is a LOT of tuning I need to do. Driving and tuning is NOT the thing to do, but there are plenty of gravel roads around.
I also noticed a couple exhaust leaks, which will need to be fixed. Shouldn't take all that long for that.

Duuude!!! Congrats! Good luck with the tuning.
QUESTION: How did you handle the fuel pump and return lines?
