How can I find out if my 78 F-150 short-box is a factory highboy. I've searched the web for a site where I can input the VIN but was unsuccessful. And, if it is a factory highboy, does that increase its value?
If the supercab or crewcab was an F-250, built from 73-77.5 then yes, it would qualify as a "highboy". Come to think of it I don't know that I remember seeing one. But remember this: "highboy" is a term that WE give these trucks. Ford never produced a "highboy", just an F-250 4x4. Stock, it sat higher than the rest of the trucks hence the nickname, but there's no special lift or anything that came with it. It's just an F-250 4x4.
They started making the supercab in 4x4 250 in 76
and they do have the sam suspension and steering as the highboy.
one thing about them that is cool is most if not all of them had the spicer dana 60 front axle

"Does that make MY truck a highboy?" Dana 60 fronts were also availble in later F-250 "Snowfighter" trucks, I believe to support the weight of a plow . . . or maybe for crazy offroaders.

I dont know if your truck is a highboy or not. I know nothing about it.
I was saying that the super cabs mostly all came with 60 not highboys
78/79 350s also got the 60
