Does anyone know where the heat/vent control cable routes to on a '86
Bronco? For some reason someone removed the cable entirely.
All I have is air blowing out the vents, no defrost or floor heat.
Thanks, That does help. It appears that there is no control cable. the pic is small and the text unreadable but it appears that everything but temp. is vacuum operated.
and since i also work at a junkyard, maybe i can help you. My 84 has one cable and that is for temp, it connects to a lever that is right behind the glove box. That one is temp control. My problem should anyone have the answer is, my selector doesnt do right. It blows vent all the time, the vaccum actuators are moving, so i figure the door inside is messed up, well i didnt realize that i would need to dismantle the whole dash to get the vent duct out so i can look in there and see what what. The duct i need to get to is near the center/right and runs up to the passenger vents, it slip fit the duct to the driver vent. I have it loose, and the dash pad out, but it wont come out. Will try tonight to loosen the pass side of the dash support and see if i have enought room to get to it. unless anyone has run into this?
Ok i see know you have same prob as me, that is vac controlled the actuator for the vent is near the cnter, if you take the glove box out it will be to the left of the opening kinda between the glove box and heater control. when you move the controls with the truck running it should move in an out when you go from vent to floor. There is anouther for when you go from floor to defrost. Mine, the one from vent to defrost is moving, and air flow changes some, but the door must be leaking or off track or something, i might get into it tonight if i get off this damn pc.
Yes, I know what your talking about. I had the glove box out and saw that vacuum actuator u mentioned. I guess the solution is to find the vacuum leak if there is one. Could that actuator be bad? Since u work at a junkyard u have the luxury to tear apart trucks and try swapping parts. Let me know what you find out.
Thanks
is it moving when you cnage the controls? Thats the number 1 ?. Also, i see this alot, if anyone has been under the hood the vaccum line that runs the controls often get disconnected, many times people remove the smog stuff and basically remove all vaccum lines, it connects to a junction block on the firewall near the center, it is a small line and it runs from that block through the firewall to the controls. You could have one of many options, first need to know if any of the actuators are moving, the truck needs to be running so you have vaccum.
No Defrost, Need plastic actuator arm that cable actuates
Hi all,
There's an orange plastic arm at the end of the cable that controls air flow on my 1988 E150. The plastic arm is broken and I have no defrost. Where can I get a new arm? I'll take an entire cable assembly if it cones with the control arm.
