OverHeating..????

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Oct-02 AT 05:58 AM (EST)]Okay When I drive the Truck around town, the truck runs without overheating (needle stays between the O and R or "Normal" on the guage".

Last weekend, attached a two horse trailer (2105pds) and loaded a fridge 2 tables and a few light boxes.

Started my drive back home, from Fredericksburg towards Dallas, and at 60MPH the Temp raised alarmingly to slightly passed the L of "Normal", dropping speed to 50mph drops the temp to "M" and driving teh rest of the trip between 55-60 to keep the temp around a for a long painfull trip back home. (and no I was not in OD)

Now Could this be an indication that the radiator is due for an overhaul/change..? or is it a symptom of something else

plans: get temp gauge and tranny guage.. lack of time is my enemy.

Why weren't you in overdrive? You can tow in overdrive, and the engine will run slower and might not make as much heat.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Oct-02 AT 10:47 AM (EST)] I think your on the right
track. You should have the
cooling system flushed and
get a new radiator cap.
That's were I would start.
Keep us posted
