One of my worker's wants to trade his spicer 4 speed transmission for my C-6 and I want to go to 4 speed because that was what the truck was from factory And I think that I want a 4 speed or should I just build up my C-6? It will be a offroad/occasional pulling/street truck. So what would be my best bet the powerplant that I will be using is a 514 ci big block ford with all of the necessary goodies. Thank You for any replies.
If I were you I would just build up your C-6. Save you the trouble from swaping it out. But if a 4 speed is really what you want go for it, its your truck! "Peterson Four Wheel and Offroad" a while back made an auto into a stick, you had to shift gears but had no clutch to worry about. They said it shifted real hard though but it didn't have anymore slush box wandering through gears. It was awesome!
76, search in the offfroad & 4x4 Pro over there just did it. a 460, 351m/400 bellhousing is what you'll need. as for flywheel you'll need to know if the motor is internally or externally balanced. if you bought the 514 crate motor it'll tell you. if you build the motor your crank company should tell you. some can use the 390 flywheel while other use a 460 only flywheel. If you want new lakewood builds a nice bullet proof bellhousing but $$ also so center force has new flywheels. find the balance of your motor and we'll findv the right flywheel.
