Slippage from the 2nd-3rd shift sounds more like the Reverse-high clutch pack is worn. Probably needs to be rebuilt. If you find that there are only 3 friction disks in the Reverse-High clutch pack, the Reverse-high clutch pack drum can be machined for a second snap ring groove to allow for 5 friction disks. This will make the 2-3 shift a little firmer, give higher torque capacity, and longer clutch life.
I adjusted the band to 120 in lbs and backed it off 1 1/2 turns. No slipping! Well, maybe a minute amount. Then I adjusted the modulator screw way in and now it's shifting at a more reasonable speed.
Now, if I can get a linkage for kickdown! This truck had a floor shifter when I got it. Looks like a Mustang one. Park, rev, and neutral are where they should be, but drive is way down in the 1 postion. Any ideas?
