ECM need replaced?
My 460 has dropped from about 13mpg at about 115,000 miles to about 8-9 mpg now at 137,000 miles. For a while it was running at about 11 mpg.
I had an independent mechanic tell me that the 93 Ford with the 460 was notorious for having the computer go out about 130,000 miles and mileage would drop to about 8 mpg. He told me this when I had about 110,000 miles on the truck. He wasn't trying to make a sale as he's a friend that has now moved on to another job. He has helped me do things in my own driveway so I do trust his judgement.
I just need to know if this is common or if I am missing something else that should be checked to get my mileage back up where it should be. Thanks in advance for any info.
