Diablo chip questions

I plan on getting the diablo chip (when I get my monthly allowence from the wife ). Is it necessary to install extra gauges to monitor the engine? I plan to use the 65 HP setting.

Also, if I hook up my trailer and load it down (about 8k lbs) do I need to reprogram my chip for 45 HP or will it be fine on the 65 HP?

The chips we program ( www.motorhaven.com) have a 54HP and 78HP setting you can switch on the fly.

The 45HP, 65HP, etc. settings are the Diablo Predator settings... (not a chip)

Gauges are not required when towing in the two mode, if you tow with the higher mode I strongly recommend them.

Oh now I understand. So how does the tuner fit into this other than the three other programs?

If it has real time sensor input data why would I need guages or can you have it plugged in while the truck is under normal operations.

Also why have the 45, 65, and 100 hp setting and the 54 and 78 hp chip settings? Why not set the chip with the 45 and 65 settings or the tuner with the 54 and 78?

The chip lets you switch power positions on the fly.

With a tuner you must plug it back in to change program positions. The Predator tuner does do realtime sensor reading... but your truck does not have an EGT sensor and that's the most important gauge with a chip.

Why the different settings? Because Diablo completely rewrote the tunes from scratch with the Predator tuner.
