ok i have finally started to do my front brakes and so far it has been pretty easy. i have removed the automatic hubs, the lock nuts and washer, and i even have the outer bearing out. my problem is i tried to pull off the rotor and hub assembly and it is not coming off. am i missing something or what? i can pull the hub out about 1/4-1/2 an inch but that is as far as it is going. what can i do? i need this fixed this weekend because i have to leave town so any help would be appreciated. thanks guys. oh yeah i have a 94 xlt if that matters.
If you removed the (2) lock nuts and thrust washer, the sequence on my 93 was-one locknut then the thrust washer then the second locknut (like a sandwich) from the hub, it should slide right off. The thrust washer is "keyed". Be careful because the inner lock nut has a small pin that lines up with the drilled holes of the thrust washer when reassembling. Make sure to pull or slide the hub assembly off the axle evenly. It sounds like you just got the first lock nut off and the thrust washer, not the second lock nut. Mine were a bear to slide back on. They were slightly cocked. You may want a can or 4 of brake clean to make sure you got off everything and clean it up for reassembly. I hope this helps. If you want to beat the lugs out of the rotor after for replacement use a piece of wood as to not mushroom the ends of the lugs. I used a 2 lb hammer and it helped compared to regular hammer. Also now is a good time to check the wheel bearings. I thought mine were good till I washed em and got tons of metal chunks in the wash. Good luck. Sorry for the long post.

i got all the lock nuts off....that is how i was able to remove the outer bearing. i have removed everything possible from the inside exept for the inner bearing and seal. i just dont get it....there should be nothing else holding the hub on but it seems to get caught on something still. there is nothing that the seal could get caught on is there? anyway i gave up for the day but please anymore advice would be a huge help. thanks
You think I would be smart enough to read the "I got the outer wheel bearing off" part. Hmmm. I am not sure now. After I got the nuts off mine just slid right out. I cna't think of anything else that would keep it on. I wish I could be more help...I know the tolerances for the sliding part were pretty tight, but geeeez how hard should you have to tug? I'll keep thinking and I sure someone else has a better thought.
