My "new" 1989 F350 dually flatbed (8'x12' deck) Jasper rebuilds 460 EFI big block (75,000 miles on it), C6 automatic with all the coolers (rebuilt 2 years ago), 3.55 gears, cruise control, air conditioning. Too bad it does not have o/d, but the 3.55 gears will be OK. The a/c needs recharged. And it will take a couple days to clean it.. but for $2,000 did I do so bad? It flat gits too LOL. I dropped it in low and spun the duals on my blacktop driveway
The only trouble is, even after it is paid off I will be making payments to the Sunoco fuel station My F250 died and I need something for my lawn service business. The flatbed will be real nice, and the insurance is actually $300 cheaper for a flatbed on commercial insurance policy.
I'm 17 in May. My little brother got camera crazy, but here are some pics of my trucks, my parents' van (that I borrowed to pull mowers before I got the dually) and their Intrepid. http://www.jasonsite.us/images/Eric/index.html
Thanks Justin.
Nobody else likes my truck j/k lol.
Got to use it today, it is a good running truck to work out of, but it's a heck of a lot bigger to drive than the F250. Hopefully that fact will make me not drive hard/fast so I may get decent mileage. I have a big mulch installation job coming up, can't wait to put it to use. Best thing of all- it doesn't leak anything! Yay!!! LOL.
Sounds like you got a great deal there, that truck should give years of service. I admire your sense of self reliance and responsibility at your young age. Good luck with the lawn business!
Hey is that a 4 wheel drive or 2? I have a truck like that at work, its a 4wd but its got a turboed 7.3, if thats 4wd, and anything like ours at work, have fun with her on the highway, ours throws spaums, rip the wheel out of your hands type of thing, theres a landscape company in town that has the same truck as us wich does the same thing, just wanted to give you a heads up on that incase it ever happens to you so you dont freak out. but you cant beat that for 2 grand, good luck with it, and whats wrong with the 3/4 ton?
Thanks guys. Biz is great lately. Can't keep up with all the work.
ATC- 2wd. Handles great on the highway IMO, and I never got any "spaums". I have not had it over 60 though. I am comfortable at 50-55 on highway with trailer the 2 miles from my house to town.
3/4 ton needs clutch, brakes, oil pan gasket, maybe couple other small things.
oh, do you plan on doing a oil pan gasket? if you do let me know how it goes, my truck needs one but i really am thinking about paying someone to do it.
carpe diem, Yes I was hoping so. Yesterday I had 1.5 tons of old horse manure/barnlot waste (decompossed into soil) and I was crawling along the path (put shifter into 1st) and up a 20 degree? slope to get back into the farmer's driveway, and I thought the tires were slipping coming up the slope (grass) but it was just the clutch-packs in the tranny. Wouldn't have minded 4.10's then. The truck does good and it shifts much lower than I would have thought. For normal driving it shifts at about 1800-2000 RPM I beleive.
