I was making a joke....ha ha funny funny, it was NOT a serious comparison, I love trucks, my wife drives the Evo, I will always be a truck guy. Read my second post again and look at my intensions. Now back to the topic..........
I have a friend who tode me that cummins is a better diesel engine then the 6.0, For the following reasons
[snip]
3. He said that the 6.0 was a gas engine convert to the diesel engine.
Any help on this comments.
Gotta love it when someone confuses chevy facts with Ford. GM built a gas to diesel converted motor and couldn't keep head gaskets on it. I also think there were many other warrantee problems. I do remember Hot Rod doing an article on converting them back to gas. The block was beefier and made a good gas motor but not tough enough for a diesel.
The idea of using a V8 design in a diesel engine was pulled from the success of the V8 gasoline engines. So basically that statement is true and false at the same time. You can, however, still get a "true" diesel engine in a pickup truck if you buy a Dodge...but that is beside the point. The 6.0L PSD doesn't share parts with other Ford V8s if that's what you are wondering.
And why is the Powerstroke not a `true` diesel engine? Oh, I understand now, it's not a `dated` diesel engine. It runs on diesel, though, doesn't it? In my book, anything that does is a true diesel engine, even the old 350s that Chevrolet made. Crappy diesels, but true diesels. It's not like they just put diesel in a gasser and called it a diesel.
That's about how I view the Mitsubishi Evo comparisons to a diesel engine...
With regards to the topic - doesn't Ford OWN Cummins? I heard something a while back that Ford is going to start putting the Cummins engines in its trucks instead of the powerstrokes made by international. Anyone else hear the same?

Ford does not own Cummins. It did own some of Cummin's stock a while ago, but sold it off.
I have heard this rumor so many times, and there are quite a few people around here who believe it to be true. It was probably started by Ford dealerships who were trying to sell more pickups by saying "If Ford owns Cummins and does not use the 5.9, then the Powerstroke must be better."

No, Ford doesn't own Cummins. They owned a small percentage of Cummins at one time but no longer do.
Ford does already offer Cummins in their trucks. They're available in the F650/750 as well as the PSD and CAT.
I Truly believe Ford has the truck hands down, but sadly Dodge has the engine. I'm not a Power Stroke person and never will be, I guess that is why I still own an 86 F250 4x4 modified 460. If Ford ever comes out with an inline 6 diesel maybe I'll go there.
