Brake light problem

Hey guys,
The old girls been running great so i havent been here in awhile but resecntly i got an odd problem. The left had brake light wont come on. The entire front of the trucks lights and the right side work fine. Its just the rear left.
The turn signal works on the left side but the brake lights dont come on and the hazzard lights dont come on on the left side. And i have replaced the light bulb. How many wires have power from the front of the truck for the brakes? I found one(which is all that i would assume there is) it has pwer and i traced it in to a plugg under the tailgate. It only pwers one wire on the opposite plugg and that wire goes to the right brake light. I figured the brake wire would split at the plugg and go to both brake lights.
Can any one help me?
Thanks and sorry for the long post
David

The brake light circuit runs thru the turn signal circuit before going to the rear of the truck. The brake light, emergency flashers, and turn signals all use the same wire to the light sockets. One for the left and one thru the right. I would look into the turn signal switch or emegency flasher switch. Try moving them around to see if your brake light comes on.

There is a tech article with step by step instructions on diagnosing and repairing the light wiring. It's all you need to know...

One wire. Goes to the left first then across to the right. If the left does not work and the right does, check grounds, check connections, check light bulb.

Unplug the wiring harness under the hood that's outside the firewall. Find the wire/pin in the connector that feeds that light socket. Run a hot wire over from the battery to that pin in the connector and see if it lights. If it works then It probably is a bad switch.
