RPM's

I'm in stop and go for most of my 45 min. commute. Getting the beautiful beast moving regularly sees it hitting the 2500-2800 rpm mark just to stay with traffic. My question is this: How high of a regular rpm flare is safe? Should I say to heck with the poor buggers behind me and roll up to speed at a lower rpm or is it ok to push it. Keep in mind the stop and go nature of the question. (Vancouver traffic is as much of a bee-atch as anywhere I've been.)

Side question: any Canucks out there with comments on Mohawk/Husky Diesel Max?

I'd say the heck with the people behind you (just stay out of the express lanes) and roll up at your own pace, your bigger than them anyway. But that's just me.

You're certainly safe at that rpm and I really wouldn't worry about it. Drive at your own pace and as jamesbfishin said, stay out of the express lanes if you drive slow.

I`m pretty much opposite commute (thank god) but I do hit a little stop & go. When I`m slow I always leave extra braking space, then when some sob cuts me off I eventually catch up to him at 70 mph,,2100rpm,,,hit the pedal and smoke-em. Best when they have a contvertible...
sorry about the rant, what was your ? lol

I use my F250 as a daily driver as well as pulling a 33' travel trailer on the weekends and for the daily commute I hold my rpms around 2000 to save fuel and the speed freaks behind me can go around. I do stay out of the high speed lane, but I manage to keep the pace up and do not have many people mad at me. Even if they are as noted I am bigger than they are so get over it.
