Yup, don't quote you on that is right... There are many overclocking/unlocking strategies. Check around on the web, maybe try http://www.nvmax.com/index.pl or some of the other sites for up to date info.
I don't play any games but my son plays CS for $$$ and other games for fun.
No one been able to unlock the 2500+ the last I looked.

Your new 2500+ is factory locked. There is no way what-so-ever to unlock the multiper on it.

If you want an unlocked multi on a barton 2500+ you are going to have to get a mobile barton, just a few dollars more but well worth it.
Now I have not looked anymore cause I don't have the time right now. If I get more time, I will gladly look more if you want more info. on the subject.
Or you can go look at overclockers.com for more info. yourself.
Medal of Honor all the way! Thats the only game I play online and on the computer because I love WW2 history and stuff. I don't really like Battlefield 1942. but haven't played it online yet.
You may not be able to change the multipliers on the 2500+, however, you CAN still OC it by boosting the front side bus, I believe that I keep mine on about 170 and it runs almost 2.7 or so (hafta get back to you on this, I forget). Doesn't run too hot, but I built a custom case to kinda maximize cooling. Unfortionatly, I am still using air cooling for now, however, I believe this is soon to change (tired of it sounding like a jet engine when I start 'er up).
Anyways, to JimmyDean... I really dont want to get any of the new line of cards that are about to come out, mostly because I dont like getting version 1 cards, they ALWAYS have their problems. So I usually try to wait until the 3rd or 4th version of a product comes out. Also, by that time, they are MUCH cheaper. I would like to wait for the DDR2, but for the mean time, I think that for the money, you cant really beat the 9600XT. What do you guys think?
I'm dissapointed nobody even mentioned Call of Duty! Unbelieveable game. My other favs are Jagged Alliance 2, RTCW, Postal 2, and the almighty Half-Life. :rocker:
Some 2500's are locked, but not all. In general, if the build date was before the 37th week of 2003 it's unlocked; the date code on the processor will be 337 or less. And correct on changing the FSB to overclock, just change it to 400 (200x2). And yes, it'll run faster than that; I've had mine up to 440 on the FSB with a multiplier of 11 and they are stable but I know you can go further. To unlock the multiplier, visit the website I noted earlier; no more "jumping the bridges" or the like. My local computer store has informed me that the info on that website works just fine and dandy. The AMD Athlon XP 2500 is begging to be overclocked .

Hey buddy... uh... COD=Call of Duty It's cool though
Anyone here have an Xbox? I play Halo a lot. Multiplayer is best - I'll sometimes have 16-player LAN's at my cousin's house, and the rest of the time we play using a computer program that allows us to play over the internet as if they were playing with us in our homes. Halo is awesome.
